New appointment.
Basingstoke YMCA Board of Directors
4. The County Council has been approached by the Basingstoke YMCA seeking a representative to sit on its Board of Directors. Basingstoke YMCA is a new 80 bed residential centre opened in July 1996. The Grants Panel of the Policy and Resources Committee allocated £30,000 per annum for three years to support the project. The YMCA is now seeing to develop its work further into the community, and on the basis that effective development must be in partnership with the County Council, it has asked for consideration to be given to the nomination of an appropriate person with knowledge of the community and young people's issues to act as the key link between the Council and the YMCA.
It is the County Council's established practice for the Policy and Resources Committee to consider initial approaches such as this and it is recommended that an appointment be made to reflect the Committee's financial interest and its interest in the welfare of young people.
RECOMMENDATION:
That appointments to be made to the organisations listed until the Annual Meeting of the Council in May 2005 unless otherwise indicated.
