As part of the final phase of constructing the A3 Bus Priority Corridor, works will be undertaken in Cowplain during March and April to resurface sections of London Road and the entrance to a number of side roads off London Road.
In order to carry out these works to the side roads, Padnell Road will be closed for 5 days from 10th April to 14th April.
Durley Avenue and Kings Road will be closed for 1 to 2 days during week commencing 24th March and again for 1 to 2 days during week commencing 21st April.
Hart Plain Avenue will be closed for 1 to 2 days during week commencing 17th March and again for 1 to 2 days during week commencing 21st April.
The service road opposite Park Lane will be closed week commencing 21st April for 2 to 3 days.
We will ensure that these necessary works are completed as quickly as possible, to minimise disruption to local residents.
Diversion routes will be clearly signposted and access to the Lidl car park will be gained from the Sylvester Road entrance.
Stagecoach bus route 37 will be rerouted to Portsmouth Road/London Road for the period of the Padnell Road closure, and a shuttle service will be provided to transport Hazleton Way passengers to Cowplain so that they can pick up the rerouted 37.

This project is being part-funded by the Department for Transport
A priority bus service between Clanfield and Gunwharf Quays.
The ZIP route will widen your transport choice, improve connections with the Solent Transport network and provide a high quality alternative to the car.
Bus Route 41 has been branded 'ZIP', and you will see this logo on the bus stops and shelters along the route between Clanfield and Portsdown Hill. Our aim is to provide a reliable, safe, clean and frequent bus service that will help to reduce the thousands of car journeys made into and out of Portsmouth every day. Bus operator First has purchased a new fleet of buses, complete with the white, purple and green ZIP livery, that have been running on the route since February 2005.
Much of the route is now built, and the scheme is planned for overall completion by summer 2008. On these pages you will find information about the progress of the construction works, together with a clickable route map.
If you have a specific enquiry about the works, please contact the site office on 023 922 47300. For more general information on roadworks anywhere in Hampshire, please visit Hampshire County Council's Highways pages
By 2020 it is predicted that there will be a 40% increase in traffic, so we need alternative transport solutions to ensure that busy urban areas don't become gridlocked.
Councils throughout the country are being given tough targets by the Government to increase public transport use, reduce congestion and increase housing. To meet housing targets, we must provide a transport infrastructure that can accommodate growing numbers of residents.
Designed with the future in mind, the ZIP Bus Priority Corridor is part of Hampshire County Council's Local Transport Plan 2006-2011. It is the result of a partnership between Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council, Havant Borough Council, East Hampshire District Council, and the bus operator First.
