About the ZIP route
Bus priority measures
To ensure that ZIP 41 can operate on a more frequent timetable and maintain the frequency as future traffic growth and development adds to congestion along the route, measures have been taken that give buses priority over other traffic:
- 6.5km of bus lanes
- New traffic signals incorporate bus gates (signals that give buses priority over other traffic at busy junctions) for southbound priority at:
- Causeway Junction, Horndean
- London Road/ Padnell Road
- London Road/ Hulbert Road Roundabout
- London Road just before Purbrook village
- New traffic signals incorporate bus gates for northbound priority at:
- Maurepas Way /St Georges Walk , Waterlooville
- Ban on through traffic and creation of bus-only zone in central Waterlooville
