Pinewood Infant School, Farnborough

The school provides a nuturing and inclusive environment which has transformed its setting, the site of an existing Scola school which was subject to an arson attack in 2004. The project has been constructed to very high standards and designed to be sustainable; the CO2 emissions being less than a third of those traditionally targeted for schools. It has been created around a courtyard plan on a site of existing pine trees and offers an oasis site in what is otherwise a pretty robust looking neighbourhood. The school has language resource provision to help support pupils from the community who have four times the national average for learning difficulties and it has recently been assessed by Ofsted to be excellent for pastoral care and the Inspector’s letter to the children concludes,

"…you are so fortunate to have such a beautiful new school in which to work and play…"

Ofstead Inspectors Report 29 Feb 2008.

The project has recently been awarded a regional RIBA award and has been short listed for the national RIBA Sorrell Award Schools award.
