Swanmore College of Technology, Swanmore
Main courtyard Improvements
The internal courtyard at Swanmore College of Technology was completely repaved and upgraded during the summer of 2004. The design made use of the awkward change of level within the site to provide a central meeting and seating dais at the intersection of the major desire lines through the site, whilst incorporating ramped wheel chair access.
The combination of a tensile fabric canopy, bespoke steel and timber furnishings and high quality brick and silver grey granite coping and paving materials gives the design a contemporary character, usually more associated with a university campus rather than a secondary school.
