St. Michael and all Angels
St. Michael's has long enjoyed a strong choral tradition - one which today's choirs maintain to the highest standards under their Director of Music, Colin Davey. The church has two choirs: a mixed-voice senior choir, and a junior choir
The Choirs
Senior Choir
St. Michael's Senior choir is one of the best church choirs in the area. It sings regularly at three Eucharist services and two choral evensongs a month, singing a repertoire that takes in over five centuries of the finest church music.
The choir also perform in concerts and special services, as well as regular trips to cathedrals and abbeys - this year we have sung at Chichester Cathedral and Tewkesbury Abbey, and forthcoming visits include Winchester Cathedral, Portsmouth Cathedral and St. David's Cathedral.
Treble Rebels junior choir
Treble rebels are a robed junior choir formed in 2006. The group sing regularly on the first Sunday of each month, as well as special services. The choir has regular trips and social events, such as bowling, ringos and pizza evenings. More details can be found on the Treble Rebels website
New singers
Both choirs are very friendly, and we always enjoy meeting new singers! If you're interested in joining us, please contact the Director of Music, Colin Davey.
Senior choir
We welcome singers of all ages (including students). The choir has a demanding repertoire, and practices are fast-paced, so sight-reading skills are beneficial! You will be asked to take an informal voice test on joining.
Treble Rebels
This choir requires no voice test or audition, and beginners aged 7 or over are very welcome. No previous musical experience is necessary! We follow the RSCM's Voice for Life training scheme, and all of our members are given the tuition they need by a commited group of experienced and fully CRB-checked adults
