The role of school organisational factors in the prevention of behaviour difficulties

The school behaviour policy needs to recognise the importance of organisational factors in creating a positive school ethos.

It is tempting to see behaviour as something inherent to individual pupils. Generally, behaviour is a result of the interactions between what an individual pupil brings to the situation, and the situation itself. Pupil behaviour can be greatly influenced both positively and negatively, by school factors, such as the way the school is organised and the quality of classroom management.
