Transforming through Technology Strategy

Transforming through TechnologyTransforming through Technology

It is the goal of this strategy to make sure that IT is always a support to change and improvement in the organisation and never a constraint.

Over the past 10 years, the County Council has made massive changes to its IT platforms. We now have a modern platform on a modern voice and data network. The council’s business is supported by a range of new applications, at the core of which is SAP. At the same time, progress has been made towards providing a comprehensive online service for the public, though Hantsweb.

The main thrust of this “Transforming through Technology” strategy is to build on our existing investments so we can achieve the degree of change in our services and operations that is made possible by technology.

The strategy is set against a background of severe financial pressure and developing views about the future operation of local government. Demand for services is increasing – unmatched by growth in funding. Public expectations of how we work are also increasing – e.g. the expectation of longer opening hours.

“Over the next few years, the County Council is facing major changes which will re-shape what we do and how we do it. Technology will play a fundamental part in this, and that’s what this strategy is all about.”
