Western Corridor and Blackwater Valley Sub-region
North Hampshire is part of the Western Corridor and Blackwater Valley Sub-region, which also includes most of Berkshire and parts of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey.
During 2003 and 2004, two studies were undertaken of the issues and options for the future planning of the Blackwater Valley. In July 2004, the South East England Regional Assembly decided that a single sub-regional strategy should be prepared for the two previously separate areas of the Blackwater Valley and the Western Corridor. In Hampshire, the combined area includes the towns of Aldershot, Basingstoke, Farnborough and Fleet.
