Adult Services Department and Children's Services Department

On 15 August 2005 two new departments were created in Hampshire

These departments have been formed as a result of the requirements of the Children Act 2004.
There is a new website for Children's Services.

This has resulted in the integration of the Children and Family sector of Social Services with the Education Department. The aim of the new Children's Services Department is to improve the well-being for all children in Hampshire, as outlined in the Children Act, ensuring our children can:

The Adult Services Department has also been created to be responsible for the needs of Hampshire's adult residents.

As a consequence of these changes, the former Education and Social Services Departments ceased to exist on 15 August.  We are currently in the transition stage, so you will still find many instances where we continue to refer to the former departments on Hantsweb and if you want to contact one of our services in either of these departments, please use existing telephone numbers and email addresses until further notice.
