County Council stand scoops top prize at New Forest Show
Hampshire County Council’s stand at the New Forest Show has been awarded
first place for best stand by a public authority by the show’s organisers.
This year the stand has been packed full of fun and fascinating activities that celebrate the County Councils new priorities for the residents of Hampshire and demonstrate how the Council is ‘looking after Hampshire, looking out for you’.
The stand was officially opened by the Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber, and Stumpy the celebrity duck, who was born with four legs. Stumpy has been causing a bit of a stir in the national press, with special appearances on Channel 4’s Richard & Judy and GMTV’s This Morning.
The award was given to the County council for a stand that has boasted a variety of exciting activities over the three days of the show – from recycled rhythm and tarantula spiders to tips on preserving your family heirlooms and decorating the giant Lady of the New Forest. Staff are on hand to give visitors their expert advice on a range of services run by the County Council.
