Queen Eleanors Garden The Great Hall, Winchester,
Hampshire Situated just outside the South Door of The Great Hall is a re-creation of a medieval herbarium named after Queen Eleanor of Provence, wife of Henry III and her daughter-in-law Queen Eleanor of Castile, wife of Edward I. The garden was opened in 1986 by The Queen Mother as part of the Domesday celebrations and it has featured recently in the BBC's Royal Gardens programme presented by Alan Titchmarsh. |
