The Trust exists to investigate, record and preserve the historic and prehistoric heritage of Berkshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Wiltshire, which together represent the historic kingdom of Wessex. The Trust maintains a professional field team, Wessex Archaeology, so as to provide an archaeological service for surveys, assessments, excavations management, consultancy and display, both within and beyond the area of Wessex. It also employs a Community Officer to co-ordinate education and public involvement in the work.
