Penrith Road. Large area of burnt flints and a matrix of black earth discovered under 3-4 ft. of undisturbed soil. Quantity of charcoal, earth and burnt flint in store at Basingstoke Museum. Inhumation Burial
East of Reading Road Bridge. Position of skeleton indicated a crouched burial. Unusually deep grave, 7 ft. 9 ins. from the surface. Discovered 1883. Finds in Reading Museum. O.S.A. No. SU65 SW17. Ref: Hampshire Chronicle, 1883, (Cooksey).     SU 645 527
