St. Mary. Probably built on site of Saxon church. Chancel and nave have C. 1 4/15 details - the walls themselves are earlier. Brick transepts, galleries and tower - all C.19. Now used as a mortuary chapel. Contains within its grounds the graves of General 'Hangman' Hawley and Field Marshal Viscount Alanbrooke, and tomb stones from 1716. O.S.A. No. SU75 NE6. Ref: 1.
