Page 95 - Heckfield

The parish is bordered by the River Loddon on the west and the Whitewater stream on the east, and encloses areas of charming scenery.

The church of St. Michael built on the site of a Saxon church, and much restored over the years, contains many interesting memorials, and one of the few remaining crusader's chests. Other outstanding items within the parish are the monument south east of the London Lodges, erected in 1866 in memory of the Duke of Wellington, and Heckfield Place an imposing Georgian mansion, with its well laid out grounds of rhododendrons and azaleas.
