St. Michael. Built on the site of a Saxon church. Restored in 1831 and 1876-7. Chancel, north chapel, nave, north aisle, west tower and porch. Brick dressed buttresses and brick arch to nave. Many interesting memorials including one to Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister at the outbreak of the second world war. Treasures include the Crusaders Chest - one of the very few remaining, of those ordered by Pope Innocent III to collect alms for the Crusades. O.S.A. No. SU76 SW10. Ref: 1.
