Burrard Neale Monument or Walhampton Monument. Massive stone stepped plinth, surmounted by 75ft. high tapered obelisk. Bronze armorial on eastern face. Each of the four faces of the base has a large iron plaque. Erected in 1840, to the memory of Sir Harry Burrard Neale BT. G.C.B., G.C.M.G., M.P. for Lymington in 1832. The monument is situated on a large earthen mound, of possible ancient-British origin. Access is via a public footpath on the eastern side of the river.     T. & C. P. Act

The Fleur de Lys. Pilley. Thatched roof, brick and cob structure. Name taken from C.13 window in church showing coat of arms with Fleur de Lys of Dauphin of France (window now destroyed). Original foundations could have been C.15 by evidence in cellar.     SZ 328 982
