Conford Fen. An area 1/2 mile long and 300 yds. wide astride Hollywater Stream. Fen and bog vegetation in close proximity, resulting from the moor soil being acid and the stream carrying alkaline salts. Lime loving flora encouraged.     N.P. Act

Linchborough Lodge, Woolmer Forest. Known as Queen Victoria's oak. Reputed to be the tree under which Queen Victoria picnicked in 1859, when she visited the troops at Woolmer, accompanied by the Prince Consort, Princess Royal, and the Prince of Wales.
