| Manor House and Preceptory (Site) |
Temple Manor. The Knights Templars had a preceptory at Southerington and held the Manor as early as 1240. Priory Farm. St. Mary's Augustinian Priory founded 1233, dissolved 1484. Excavated from 1953-1969/70. Finds include skeletons of former priors in shallow stone coffins, mediaeval coins, iron and bronze utensils, pottery, tiles etc. Finds in the Wakes Museum, Selborne, and Curtis Museum, Alton. O.S.A.
