No. 14. Rope Walk Cottage. Red brick with grey headers, the old tiled roof carried down to single storey height at rear, which faces street. Three windows and door with flat hood. Small eastern two-storey wing at right angles, built in grey brick with red brick dressings and hipped old tiled roof.     T&CP Act

Fort Wallington. One of a series of forts built for the defence of Portsmouth Harbour. According to an 1869 report, it was to be armed with '17 guns on the ramparts, 6 mortars in casemates, and 28 lighter guns'. The fort was built within the hillside with a pointed projection at the centre, the eastern part now demolished. The fort is faced in red brick with earth band above stone coping. Castellated parapet to flanking portions, beyond these, blank portions containing Norman style doorways. It is now derelict and the interior is used for industrial purposes. SMR SU50NE60. Fort Fareham. One of a series of forts forming part of the fortifications built to defend Portsmouth Harbour. Construction started in 1861 and it was completed in 1864, though it was never armed. It is of irregular shape, surrounded by a bank lined with red brick inside and outside, partly with tiers of arches. Outside a moat, now dry; the centre of the fort is now used as an industrial estate, with some arches occupied by industrial premises. SMR SU50SE37.
