Lamp Standards

Esplanade and seafront. These Edwardian lamp standards extend through the length of the promenade, they consist of an ornate column incorporating the City's coat of arms at the base and at high level between a pair of angular lanterns. They also have decorative capitals and ladder supports. The grid reference given indicates the central point.     CA

No. 1 Park House, formerly Gladstone Hotel. A four storey stucco faced building, with angular bay window running through four floors. The main entrance is on the first floor and has a faience detailed door surround. The building incorporates a small villa at the rear.     CA

Nos. 8 and 9. Two storeys, stucco faced. First floor has angular bay window with decorative wrought iron balcony, also an octagonal window. Ground floor has sliding sash windows with shutters. Main entrance door is glazed with rectangular fanlights.     CA

No. 9A. Three storeys, stucco facade with quoins. Slate roof with hipped ends. String course at first floor level. Two two storey angular bays with sash windows. Entrance door has six panels with rectangular fanlight over and surmounted by decorative cornice.     CA

No. 10. Five storeys, stucco faced with parapet and slate roof. Four windows to each floor. The main feature is a shallow angular bay with regency style canopy and decorative cast iron balcony at third floor level. The top floor also has wrought iron window decoration.     CA
