Introduction to Hantsweb

Hantsweb is a very large information resource provided by Hampshire County Council together with many other associated organisations in Hampshire. Hantsweb contains over 700,000 pages giving information on the internet for the benefit of anyone who wants to know more about Hampshire and services for the community in the county, and this page count grows daily.
This information is also available in HANTSNET, a large information network run by Hampshire County Council with 18,000 users from over 400 organisations. These organisations include local government, schools, colleges, universities, health agencies, community organisations, voluntary organisations, public protection agencies and business and enterprise agencies.
The County Council is working with other Hampshire organisations to integrate the information available on the Web. In particular, Hantsweb is part of a collaborative Hampshire Community Network project with all the other Hampshire local authorities. this project aims to coordinate public service information available and setting minimum standards. All the organisations involved have made a commitment to provide and share high quality information. Each web site points to the other sites, integrating Hampshire information for the benefit of all users.

Cousin
Historically several hundred different and overlapping directories of services for the community have been compiled, maintained and distributed by very many organisations. These organisation are now combining to integrate their information in the Hampshire directory of services for the community (Cousin). So far, the directory contains some 19,200 entries, and it is growing steadily. This information is available both on Hantsweb and Hantsnet, so that the information will be as widely accessible as possible.
