Aims & Objectives

The Hampshire Constabulary History Society was formed in 1986.

Its aim is to foster interest in the history of the force and the old City and Borough Forces that once existed in the two counties.

The aims and objectives of this society are:

To develop interest in items of equipment, records and photographs, including uniform and accoutrements.

The items on view are only a small part of a much larger reserve collection of memorabilia and artifacts.

We now hope that in time some of these items can be displayed here.

He belonged to Highclere, his mother when he was about four years old, put him down at the Union Workhouse gate at Kingsclere and left him there he was taken into the Union and dragged up there. The magistrates told him that he ought to be better employed than begging and sentenced him to 14 days imprisonment at Winchester.

Job Rawlins, ash gatherer, of Tadley, was summoned for leaving his horse and cart on the highway at Baughurst, causing an obstruction. Ordered to pay 10s, which was paid. More...
