Giving Blood in Central Southern England
Blood Donor Sessions: Wessex Region
Hospitals in England and Wales need 8,500 donations of blood every day of the year - and the demand is rising all the time as medical techniques become ever more sophisticated.
Blood is not just used for straightforward transfusions. Products extracted from blood have a whole range of uses - from the treatment of burns to the prevention of infection.
The National Blood Service, which organises the collection, processing and distribution of blood, relies entirely on voluntary donors to maintain its supplies.
By enrolling as a blood donor you will be making a vital gift of life to someone else. You could also be making an investment in your own future - because who knows when you or a member of your family may need a blood transfusion?
We're counting on you ...
Within the next few days, your generous donation of blood could be saving a life after a road accident, make possible an organ transplant, easing the pain of a burns victim or helping a child with leukaemia.
