Hythe and Dibden

Hythe and Dibden which is a post 1810 settlement which lies on the edge of Southampton water which has provided extra land through reclamation (8.4), the area also consists of salterns (8.3) and is banded to the north by mud flats. Hythe itself is bounded on both sides by woodland , assarted woodland and various assarted fields (4.1, 1.2,1.1 and 1.4). In the north-west corner of the map we can see Larchwood priory which is surrounded by 19th century parkland. This in turn is surrounded by a variety of landscape types which include 19th century plantations (4.5), small regular fields with straight boundaries (1.9) and post 1810 settlement (9.6).
