Dummer Village Design Statement

History

Preparation of the Dummer Village Design Statement, VDS, started in late 2001. Its development was supported by grants of £1500 from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and of £5000 from the National Lottery.

In 2002 surveys of residents and businesses gathered the views from those who live and work in the parish. It was also reviewed by Basingstoke & Deane borough's planners. The design statement which emerged from the views expressed is available for download.

Dummer's document

The VDS will guide development in Dummer. On 19th February 2004 it was adopted by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as supplementary planning guidance for the parish. The Parish Council welcomes your comments. The adopted VDS has been saved by Basingstoke and Deane and remains supplementary planning guidance under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.

Parish Plans
Parish Councils are encouraged to promote the development of a Parish Plan. A Parish Plan is a document that sets out how a community sees itself developing over the next ten or more years - often described as a 'shared vision' for the future.
A good Plan should include and reflect the views of the whole community and detail the steps needed to achieve their 'vision'. It will have used a variety of consultation methods to find out the views of residents and once these are known, gone back to the community to identify the most important actions to be taken and the people who should be involved to ensure their success.
