Property Services

Welcome to Hampshire County Council's Access Team

The Access Team is part of technical services within Property Services. We are responsible for managing the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) Access Audits & Improvements Strategy. Our principle focus is to enhance buildings accessibility for disabled people.

What services do we provide?

Working for schools

From April 2007 the Access Team has embarked on an exciting new service to Hampshire’s schools called the Disability Discrimination Act Advisory Service. This will assist schools with planning and implementing access improvements to the physical environment of the school in line with their SENDA & DED 2006. The Access Team will be working in partnership with local access groups to deliver this service.

Access Audits and improvements

We undertake access audits and implement access improvements that have been identified. This includes undertaking feasibility and design work and running projects on site.

Advice on Design and Access Statements

We provide advice on Hampshire County Council's new-build and refurbishment projects which require Design and Access Statements ensuring the latest access standards and best practice are incorporated. This is a requirement under The Planning Regulations 2006 and Part M of the Building Regulations.
