THREE CHEERS FOR ROMSEY RECYCLERS
Customers and staff from the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Timsbury are celebrating an award for their first-class recycling performance.
The HWRC, which services the Romsey area, has been named winter Site of the Season by Hampshire County Council, which recognises the important role that these sites play and is working hard to put more capital investment into improving the experience for customers.
The Site of the Season competition was set up as a way of encouraging sites to further improve their service, and is awarded four times a year to a site that has made a special effort and commitment to recycling and customer service.
Timsbury was chosen to win the inaugural award due to its outstanding recycling and customer care performance over the winter months, which is traditionally a difficult time of year for site staff due to the weather. The Bunny Lane facility was particularly praised for recent hard work at operating the site more efficiently to reduce queuing time, and keeping it clean and tidy.
Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Environment, Councillor Tim Knight, said: "Congratulations to Timsbury HWRC for winning the award. Staff there have worked hard to make their site as easy as possible to use and fully deserve the award.
"Hampshire's HWRCs play an important role in helping people recycle, and it's nice to see the 24 sites doing their best to make recycling an easier and better experience for users."
The site was rewarded with two large certificates to promote their achievement, while the staff received a prize of a hamper to enjoy. The award for the spring months will be announced in June.
