The Crime and Disorder Data Information Exchange (CADDIE)
At the touch of a button Hampshire and Isle of Wight residents can now find out what is being done to combat crime in their area - thanks to a powerful new interactive website launched in May 2007.

The Crime and Disorder Data Information Exchange (CADDIE) website has been designed so that residents can access relevant, accurate and timely information about crime and disorder in the county. With a few clicks of a mouse users can look up anywhere in Hampshire to find out where crime and disorder is taking place and what initiatives and operations have been introduced to target crime and improve community safety.
CADDIE is jointly owned and used by Hampshire Constabulary, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, as well as Hampshire County Council, which is managing the system on behalf of all the partners.
The website is already being successfully used by the partners and it is proving to be a useful tool in fighting crime. For example, the County Council's Accredited Community Safety Officers (ACSOs) are using mobile computing with global positioning system (GPS) to capture details of anti-social behaviour incidents, which are then sent to and updated on CADDIE.
Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber, will be officially launching the system today at Montgomery House, Winchester, where the system is based. He said: "The ability to share crime and disorder information across Hampshire is key to building strong and safe communities. It means all the partners can use the CADDIE website to identify the needs of different areas so resources can be allocated most effectively. CADDIE will also give residents accurate information about the true extent of crime and disorder in their area and allow them to keep track of what is being done to tackle it, which should help alleviate fear of crime."
Chief Superintendent Matthew Greening, Head of Community Safety Department, Hampshire Constabulary, said: "We are very proud to be involved in the development of CADDIE. It is the culmination of two years of partnership working that will provide our partner organisations and the communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with easy access to a variety of data via the internet. It will be possible to map data from partners who provide a range of community safety and other public services. For the first time people can see what is happening in the area they live or anywhere across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Our aim is to give people accurate, local information about crime and disorder."
The CADDIE website is www.hantsiowcaddie.gov.uk. It is updated monthly to ensure data is kept up-to-date and relevant.
