Beep Beep Days

What is Beep Beep! Day?

Three children aged four or under are injured while on foot every day. Pre-school carers can play a vital role in educating children from an early age and help to promote road safety in the local community.

Beep Beep! Day is an educational road safety initiative for nurseries, playgroups, childminders and pre-schools, coordinated by Brake, the national road safety charity.  It enables early-years educators to spend a day teaching key road safety messages.  It can take place on any day in the spring, summer or autumn of 2010, educators choose a day that is convenient to them.

All participating nurseries receive an information pack containing FREE road safety resources including stickers, colour-in sheets, placards, posters, wall charts and certificates for the children.  Brake also gives advice on running playground road safety activities on your Beep Beep! Day.

Raise money for children bereaved by road crashes

The children can collect sponsorship for the event, with all funds raised going towards Brake’s work to prevent death and injury on the roads and caring for families affected byroad crashes.  Last year 700 nurseries took part, raising £30,000 for Brake.

How can my nursery/play group/pre-school get involved?

If your nursery would like to take part or find out more simply email beepbeep@brake.org.uk giving your name, the name of your nursery, email address and telephone number.  Alternatively call the Community Education Team, on 01484 559909.  Brake will contact the person in charge to talk through the organisation of your Beep Beep! Day and provide you with one-to-one tips and support on developing road safety initiatives.
