Examples of Schemes
Cheriton North End Footpath
Safer Route to School Scheme 2001/02
A scheme with the Parish Council provided a safer walking route for children from the North End of the village to the school. Children previously had to walk along a busy road with no pavements. The section of land was kindly donated by the local landowner. Please click on the link below for before and after photographs.
Trunk Road, Farnborough
Safer Route to School Scheme 2001/02
Three schools worked together and produced travel plans identifying Trunk Road as a potential area for a Safer Routes to School Scheme. Rushmoor Borough Council worked with the schools and with funding from the SRTS Programme implemented a scheme involving, amongst other things, a safer crossing point for children. The Mayor of Rushmoor opened the scheme and the road was closed for a few hours allowing children from Parsonage Farm Nursery and Infant School to 'Reclaim the Street' for a few hours of cycling.
