TRANSPORT IN HAMPSHIRE: A FRAMEWORK FOR THE FUTURE
 
REPORT OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE

1.    At its meeting on 11 November 1996 the Finance and General
      Purposes Sub-Committee of the Planning and Transportation
      Committee received a report by the County Surveyor on a
      document entitled, "Transport in Hampshire: Policy Framework
      for the Future".  The Sub-Committee resolved as follows:
 
 
      a)    That the draft strategy "Transport in Hampshire: Policy
            Framework for the Future" be approved for the purposes
            of consultation with adjoining County Council's,
            District Councils, the Government Office for the South
            East, the Highways Agency, the Hampshire Association of
            Parish Councils, Chambers of Commerce, transport
            providers and other interested parties, with a report
            back to the Sub-Committee at the appropriate time.
 
 
      b)    That the report be submitted to the next meeting of the
            Agenda 21 Panel for information.
 
 
2.    Accordingly, a copy of the report is now attached for Members'
      information.
 
 
RECOMMENDATION:
 
 
That the report be noted.
