COUNTY COUNCIL - 17 SEPTEMBER, 1998 - HAMPSHIRE POLICE AUTHORITY
 
BITTERNE POLICE STATION - MEDICAL CENTRE
 
1. Approval has been given to the development of a Medical Centre
   attached to the Custody Centre at Bitterne Police Station for use
   by the Southampton and South West Health Authority, the full cost
   of which will be borne by the Health Authority.
 
2. The facility has been developed following an approach from the
   Health Authority who have been seeking suitable premises in which
   their doctors may hold consultations with patients who are known
   to be likely to be violent.
 
3. This will be the first time that such a facility will be
   developed on police premises and the Health Authority views this
   development as being the first of many similar facilities nation-
   wide.
