The Blackwater Valley Sub-regional Study Homepage - Download available here
The Blackwater Valley covers the towns of Aldershot, Camberley, Farnborough, Farnham and Fleet and smaller settlements including Ash, Frimley green, Blackwater, Sandhurst and Yateley. The area is covered by nine local authorities: Hampshire and Surrey County Councils; Bracknell Forest and Wokingham unitary councils; and the district councils of Guildford, Hart, Rushmoor, Surrey Heath and Waverley. They have come together as the Blackwater Valley Network.
In 2002 the Network commissioned consultants to undertake a study of Blackwater Valley to consider conceptual options for sustainable economic growth and the land use implications. The Study was published in May 2003, and comments were invited on it from interested individuals and organisations.
The South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) has commissioned the Blackwater Valley local authorities to undertake a further study during early 2004. This new study will involve a review of the consultants study above, an analysis of the economic and transport linkages to other areas, and an evaluation of the characteristics of the area. Key conclusions will then be drawn.
The study will also help SEERA to decide if a sub-regional strategy needs to be prepared for the Blackwater Valley.
A brief for the new study has been agreed between SEERA and the local authorities
