Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Keith Mans said: “This is a difficult time for many people. While we continue working with partners on Hampshire’s response to the Coronavirus outbreak, one of the ways we can help, on a very local level, is by financially supporting some of the remarkable work going on in our communities.
“Therefore, we are making changes to this year’s local member grants by increasing the funding available for local groups and projects and bringing forward the application process to help small organisations and charities carry out their important work. We hope this approach will assist in sustaining the groups when this challenging period is behind us.”
“I would urge local organisations who may be struggling at the moment, to consider applying. Funding is decided by individual county councillors who know their local areas well and have a good understanding of where one-off financial support, at a time like this, can really make a difference.”
Each county councillor has a total of £10,000 for use in their division, and grants are available from £100. The scheme is now open.
