Botley Bypass - Woodhouse Lane temporary road closure

As part of the first phase of works to construct the Botley Bypass a full road closure of the northern end of Woodhouse Lane, Botley, will be in place from 9 am Thursday 9 December until 10 am Friday 10 December 2021

Dec 2 2021

The temporary road closure is required to install a water mains connection deep underground.

Councillor Rob Humby, Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Lead Member for Economy, Transport and Environment, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this short-term closure may cause but due to the nature of the work required, it is not possible for engineers to complete this while there is traffic on the road. Closing for a little over 24 hours will help to minimise the disruption.”

The road will be closed to traffic from the junction of Woodhouse Lane at Winchester Street, as far as the entrance of Hillier Garden Centre. We have tried to minimise disruption to residents and business by keeping the duration of the closure as short as possible and working throughout the evening.

Access to all properties and businesses will be maintained, signs will be out showing businesses are open as usual and a signed diversion will be in place via the A334, Botley Road, Tollbar Way and Winchester Road (B3354). Pedestrian access will be maintained through the working area.
