Calling all hospitality and catering businesses – find out how employing young people with special educational needs could be your recipe for success

Hampshire County Council is inviting local hospitality and catering businesses to discover the benefits of employing young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at an online event on Tuesday 26 September, 10am to 12pm.

Sep 4 2023

The hospitality and catering sector struggles with skills gaps and recruitment needs, while the County Council works with local colleges to support many skilled and motivated young people across Hampshire who are keen to enter employment. Hampshire Children’s Services can offer support and guidance and connect employers with young people who want to work.

The online event will include case studies from employers in the sector, explaining how employing young people with SEND has helped their businesses. Employers will also have the opportunity during the event to hear about the support that colleges and education providers can give to businesses to ensure the right young person is placed in the right job.

What are some of the benefits of employing young people with SEND?

  • Embedding a culture of inclusivity
  • Having a workforce which reflects and understands your customers
  • Providing meaningful employment for young people in local communities

Employers are being encouraged to sign up to the upcoming online event to find out more.

Registration is now open.

This event is funded by the Education Training Foundation, through the Department for Education, and forms part of Hampshire County Council’s wider All Our Talents’ SEND Employability Action Plan.’

The plan aims to help young people with additional needs to fulfil their aspirations and develop the skills, knowledge, and independence needed to successfully move onto adulthood and employment.
