County Council reviews role as promoter of M27 Junction 10

Progress with Hampshire County Council’s work in designing and delivering a major infrastructure scheme in South Hampshire will be reviewed at a meeting on 14th January 2020

Jan 7 2020

Councillor Rob Humby, Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment, will consider a report outlining Hampshire County Council’s work as scheme promoter for the M27 Junction 10 improvement works to date.

Cllr Rob Humby explained: “The County Council has made excellent progress on the scheme development and design to this point, to get it to the stage where Fareham Borough Council were able to consider the planning application and resolve to grant permission for the Welborne development, subject to completion of legal agreements.

“However, the scheme has reached an impasse relating to securing overall funding for the motorway junction and arrangements for its delivery. We are committed to supporting Fareham Borough Council in lobbying the Government for funding for this scheme, which is particularly important now that it will follow Highways England’s Smart Motorway works, rather than being part of it.”

In parallel with work to secure extra funding and finalise delivery arrangements, Councillor Humby will be considering a recommendation to review the County Council’s continuing role as scheme promoter.
