Following the extremely positive reaction to the scheme’s launch, Hampshire’s residents will now have an extra four weeks (until Friday 15 November) to submit an interest in this scheme which harnesses the collective power of group buying to purchase solar panels, ensuring homeowners are confident they are paying the right price for a high-quality installation from pre-approved installers.

With average savings of 41% on solar panel installations, Solar Together allows individuals to cut their carbon emissions, save on household energy bills, and boost local renewable energy generation.

The scheme also offers battery storage and electric vehicle chargers, making it a complete package for homeowners who are looking to switch to renewable energy solutions. Households that have already invested in solar panels can retrofit battery storage with the scheme to store up even more renewable energy.

Hampshire County Council is working in partnership with iChoosr, to make the transition to clean energy, by residents in the county, as cost-effective and hassle-free as possible. Since 2021, over 2,600 households have fitted solar panels through Solar Together Hampshire, with over 2,000 households also opting to include a battery with their installation – which altogether can save an estimated 57,550 tonnes of carbon emissions over 25 years.

How it works

  • Homeowners register online by Friday 15 November for a free and without obligation quote – the more people who register, the better the deal can be for each household.
  • Pre-vetted solar installers submit their installation price to iChoosr who, in turn, select the best deal to offer those who’ve expressed interest.
Registered householders will receive a personal recommendation.
  • Once a recommendation is accepted, the winning installer will arrange to carry out a roof survey and set an installation date.
  • All installations should be completed within six months of the quote being accepted.

Marie-Louise Abretti, Solar Together UK Business Manager, said: “With energy prices continuing to fluctuate, Hampshire residents are seeking ways to lower their carbon footprint, cut energy costs, and become more independent from the grid. The Solar Together group-buying scheme provides a simple method to make an informed choice and secure a competitive deal from a reliable, vetted provider. Homeowners can save an average of £3,050 compared to the typical market price on solar PV systems with 4-25 panels. The scheme allows more households to make the renewable switch than would typically be the case.”

To participate in the Solar Together scheme, residents need to own the property or have permission from the property owner to install a solar system on the roof. Small and medium-sized businesses and Commonhold Associations that meet these requirements can also participate.
