On Tuesday 28 January, Councillor Kirsty North, the County Council’s Lead Cabinet Member for Universal Services, will review the final funding and contractual arrangements at her Decision Day meeting. If approved, work will start on site in February 2025.
Botley Bypass has been designed to increase road capacity in this area of Hampshire, reduce congestion in Botley village, and support new development. It will also make local journeys easier, including those to and from Southampton and the M27.
The final element of the scheme will create a new road from Winchester Street (running eastwards), a new bridge crossing the River Hamble and a new roundabout at the A334 junction with the A3051. New and improved pedestrian and cycle routes will also be provided as part of the project, encouraging people to travel more actively, by walking and cycling for their local journeys.
Funding approval for the Botley Bypass final phase was agreed by the County Council’s Cabinet in July last year. The bypass is expected to be completed in late Summer 2027.
