Apprenticeships – the gateway to a brighter future

This National Apprenticeship Week, 10 to 16 February, Hampshire County Council is coordinating a series of special online and in-person events for both employers and those wishing to develop their career, to find out more about the benefits of apprenticeships, how they work, and the wide-ranging opportunities on offer across Hampshire

Councillor Nick Adams-King, Leader of Hampshire County Council, said: “Apprenticeships are a brilliant option for people of all ages to launch their careers in a huge range of exciting industries or upskill at various levels. The County Council is championing apprenticeships as a way of supporting our local economy to flourish – as they not only provide a means for individuals to further their careers, but are also a great tool for local businesses to upskill their workforces.

He added: “In particular, apprenticeships can help where there are skills shortages, such as in construction, childcare, teaching and social care. They’re a proven way to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. By bringing together businesses and training providers, we can help skills-match apprenticeships, and other training courses.  All of these benefits will be amplified further by our devolution deal, where working across the entirety of Hampshire and the Solent we will be able to meet the current and future needs of businesses across the county.”
