Healthy lifestyles provider Thrive Tribe has been appointed by Hampshire County Council to help local people achieve a healthy weight and improve their wellbeing as part of a new programme that launches this month

The new programme offers many options for losing weight, allowing individuals to choose the most suitable method for them.

Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health said: “It’s important we support those who are seeking to improve their health. In the short and long term even modest weight loss can have a great impact on wellbeing. We are delighted to be working with Thrive Tribe who have vast experience of delivering healthy eating, nutrition, physical activity and positive health behaviour change interventions. Also, by making these services available in-person, online and in a variety of formats they become accessible to even more people.”

The new 12-week free weight-loss programme from Thrive Tribe is open to those who meet certain criteria and are living in the county or registered with a Hampshire GP. Residents can take part in-person by joining local workshops or use online tools if they prefer. Participants will get access to healthy recipes and online fitness sessions, as well as information about food and physical activity, help with motivation and planning, as well as support groups.

Councillor Fairhurst added: “For some people, losing weight will bring many physical and mental health benefits but it isn’t always easy, so that’s why we have teamed up with Thrive Tribe to make it accessible and motivating.”
In the past five years, more than 9,000 people have been supported to lose weight via the Local Authority’s commissioned service.

Over the next three years, Thrive Tribe will be delivering support throughout Hampshire, with a face-to-face offer through Slimming World, an online weight management alternative under the name Gloji, and a third option with physical activity as a central component which launches in September, also under the Gloji brand.
