Have your say on improvements to travel routes between Farnborough and Aldershot

People living and working in Farnborough and Aldershot, as well as visitors to the areas, are being invited to take part in an online survey to tell Hampshire County Council their views on creating improved routes for walking, wheeling and cycling, as well as making bus journey times more reliable

Nov 29 2024

The County Council and Rushmoor Borough Council are working together to develop improvements along an 8km route which runs from Empress Avenue in the north (near Farnborough Sixth Form College) along the A325 past Farnborough Town Centre and along B3403 Alexandra Road/ Queens Avenue through North Camp, Wellesley and Aldershot Town Centre to the B3007 Weybourne Road in the south.

Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Nick Adams-King, said: “At this stage, we would like to better understand people’s experiences of walking, wheeling, cycling and using the bus along this route. We will use the feedback to develop proposals and future bids for funding to be able to carry out potential improvement works. We would be grateful if as many people as possible in the Aldershot and Farnborough areas could take part in the survey.”

The survey is open until Sunday 26 January 2025 and feedback can be provided via the online survey on the County Council’s website.

Improvements to walking, wheeling, cycling and buses that may be developed following this survey will support the Hampshire Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) and the Hampshire Bus Service Improvement Plan, by making these ways of travelling around more attractive, thereby increasing the number of people who walk, cycle or travel regularly by bus.

They also reflect the ambitions of the Year of Health and Wellbeing - 2024/25, which Hampshire County Council is supporting as a member of the Hampshire 2050 Partnership. This Year of Health and Wellbeing is a 12-month focus by partners to take action in three priority areas (Physical Activity, Mental Wellbeing and Childhood Obesity), to improve health and wellbeing within their own organisation and, where possible, local communities to make healthy lifestyle choices.
