Essential works to be carried out on Langstone Road, Hayling Island

Following resurfacing works along Langstone Road earlier this year, Hampshire County Council will be carrying out further improvements to the road

Hampshire Highways teams will be reinstating the central reserve guardrail on the approach to the A27 roundabout from Monday 10 June as part of the County Council’s multi-million pound road investment programme, Operation Resilience

Councillor Rob Humby, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Environment and Transport, said: “Looking after Hampshire’s extensive road network is one of our top priorities. Our planned maintenance programme, Operation Resilience, is a long term strategy designed to ensure Hampshire’s road network is more resilient to the impact of heavy traffic and weather. The programme sees an additional investment of £10 million each year, using a variety of treatments to extend the life of road surfaces while at the same time getting the best value for money.

“These essential works have been carefully planned, and I would like to reassure local residents that we will do all we can to minimise disturbance and disruption."

The work will take place over five nights between 9pm-6am and will require lane closures along the central reserve, with the road returned to full traffic capacity outside of these hours.

Information signs advising road users of the works will be erected before the start of works.
