Consultation on School Catchment Area Changes for Botley Church of England Primary School, Berrywood Primary School, Fair Oak Infant School and Fair Oak Junior School and Saint James' Church of England Primary School

Closed on

Hampshire County Council is reviewing and consulting upon the school catchments in the area of the schools listed above to take account of the planned new housing at Boorley Gardens, Woodhouse Lane and One Horton Heath

Consultation on admissions priority for children living in new housing at Boorley Gardens

The new housing development at Boorley Gardens is currently in the catchment area of Botley Church of England Primary School and Fair Oak Infant and Fair Oak Junior Schools. A separate consultation run by Wildern Academy Trust, as the admissions authority for Boorley Park Primary School will take place. The Local Authority anticipates moving the new housing at Boorley Gardens into the catchment area for the Boorley Park Primary School.

For families in the affected area with children already in Botley Church of England Primary School or Fair Oak Infant School the following transitional arrangement will be put in place:

  • Children starting school for the first time who have a sibling on roll at Botley Church of England Primary School or Fair Oak Infant or Fair Oak Junior School (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission), will be given catchment priority for Botley Church of England Primary School or Fair Oak Infant School up to and including admission in September 2026

Also, for Fair Oak Junior School,

  • Children applying to this school who have a sibling on roll at Fair Oak Infant or Fair Oak Junior School (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission), will be given catchment priority for Fair Oak Junior School up to and including admission in September 2026.

It is therefore proposed that the catchment boundaries be redrawn for school admissions from September 2023 onwards.

Consultation on admissions priority for children living in new housing at Woodhouse Meadows

The new housing development at Woodhouse Meadows currently falls within the catchment area of Botley Church of England Primary School. The Local Authority anticipate moving the new housing into the admissions arrangements for the Berrywood Primary School.

For families in the affected area with children already in Botley Church of England Primary School the following transitional arrangement will be put in place:

  • Children starting school for the first time who have a sibling on roll at Botley Church of England Primary School (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission), will be given catchment priority for Botley Church of England Primary School up to and including admission in September 2026.

It is therefore proposed that the catchment boundaries be redrawn for school admissions from September 2023 onwards.

Consultation on admissions priority for children living in new housing planned for One Horton Heath (Phase One and Phase Two)

The new housing development at One Horton Heath currently falls within the catchment area of Fair Oak Infant and Fair Oak Junior School. The Local Authority anticipate moving the new housing into the catchment area for Saint James’ Church of England Primary School. A new Primary school is planned to meet the demand from the development and therefore we anticipate a future consultation to take account of the new provision.

For any families in the affected area with children already in Fair Oak Infant and Fair Oak Junior School the following transitional arrangement will be put in place:

  • Children starting school for the first time who have a sibling on roll at Fair Oak Infant (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission), will be given catchment priority for Fair Oak Infant up to and including admission in September 2026.

We propose that the catchment boundaries be redrawn for school admissions from September 2023 onwards.
