Pre-planning Consultation – Proposal to enlarge Calthorpe Park School

Closed on

The County Council wish to consult with you ahead of its proposal to submit a planning application to permanently enlarge the premises of Calthorpe Park School

We would therefore like to invite you to a drop in session on 18 March 2019 at Calthorpe Park School between 4pm and 7pm when officers will be available to discuss the Council’s plans for additional buildings on the school site.

The Consultation

This consultation will run from 4 March to 1 April 2019. The proposed enlargement will provide additional teaching accommodation and allow Calthorpe Park School to offer 60 additional places in Year 7 (age 11+) from September 2021. This expansion will increase the Year 7 pupil admission number to 345 pupil places and create a total capacity of 1725 pupil places across all five year groups.

A statutory consultation process on the principle of the school expansion concluded on 29 June 2018 which was then followed by a Public Notice which was issued on 28 September 2018 for 5 weeks. The Director of Children’s Services subsequently approved, subject to planning permission, the expansion of the school in November 2018. This expansion would enable Calthorpe Park School to increase its numbers from 1420 to 1725.

Upon conclusion of the consultation, officers will take into consideration all the consultation responses received before deciding whether the proposal should continue to the formal publication stage.
