Consultation on the proposal is taking place prior to a planning application being submitted later this year and will run until the 3 July 2019. We would welcome your views on the proposals.
You are also invited to a drop-in session on Thursday 20 June 2019 at Grange Junior School between 3:30pm and 6:30pm when officers will be available to discuss the Council’s plans for the new school building.
Reason for proposal
The existing building at Grange Junior school dates from 1963 and was built using a timber frame system with both single and two-storey elements. A structural survey and condition assessment have determined that the building requires a significant level of expense to maintain and prolong its use. Options for improving the accommodation have been undertaken but this has shown it is not possible to utilise the existing frame to re-clad the building, particularly the two-storey elements.
It is proposed, therefore, that the school is completely re-built on the existing site and the school move from their current accommodation to the new facility once it is complete.
This pre-planning event will provide you with an opportunity to look at the plans for the proposed works and discuss them directly with officers.
