Consultation on School Catchment Area Changes for Sarisbury Infant School, Sarisbury Church of England Junior School and Hook with Warsash Church of England Primary Academy
Closed on
Hampshire County Council is reviewing and consulting upon the school catchments in the area of the schools listed above to take account of the planned new housing sites in the Greenaway Lane area
Discussions are taking place with the schools about the proposed changes to the schools’ catchment areas.
Consultation on admissions priority for children living in new housing developments in Greenaway Lane
The new housing developments in the Greenaway Lane area are split into those north and south of the lane. Predominately, those north lie in the Sarisbury Infant School and Sarisbury Church of England Junior School catchment areas and those to the south in Hook with Warsash Primary Academy. It is proposed that an amendment is made to the current arrangements with the new housing immediately to the south and north of Greenaway Lane being incorporated fully into the catchment area of Hook with Warsash Primary Academy.
Hook with Warsash Primary Academy will run their own consultation as they are their own admission authority.
This proposal, if approved removes the area shown on the map from the catchment of the Sarisbury schools; children living in the new housing and in a small number of existing houses on Greenaway Lane will not have catchment priority at the Sarisbury schools from September 2023. For families in the affected area with children already in Sarisbury Infant School the following transitional arrangement will be put in place:
- Children starting school for the first time who have a sibling on roll at Sarisbury Infant (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission) or Sarisbury Junior School, will be given catchment priority for Sarisbury Infant School up to and including admission in September 2026
For Sarisbury Church of England Junior School,
- Children applying to this school who have a sibling on roll at Sarisbury Infant or Sarisbury Church of England Junior School (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission), will be given catchment priority for Sarisbury Church of England Junior School up to and including admission in September 2026
It is therefore proposed that the catchment boundaries be redrawn for school admissions from September 2023 onwards.
Further Information
Subject to approval the catchment change will be implemented for September 2023 admissions. Should the catchment change be implemented all details will be updated in the schools admission policies and on Hampshire County Council web pages to reflect this change.
