PurposeHampshire County Council is holding an Information Event ahead of a proposal to enlarge the premises of Rownhams St John's Church of England Primary School. We would therefore like to invite you to a drop-in session on Tuesday 26 June 2018 at Rownhams St John's Church of England Primary School between 3pm and 6pm when officers will be available to discuss the Council’s plan for the school building extension.
The works being proposed will allow the capacity of the school to increase from 40 to 45 places for Year R (age 4+) in permanent facilities from September 2019. Following this expansion Rownhams St John's Church of England Primary School will have the capacity to cater for 315 pupils across seven year groups. The current capacity of the Rownhams St John's Church of England Primary school is 280.
The County Council has a statutory duty to provide school places and is committed to creating them where they are most needed. The school is being expanded to accommodate the new housing development on land east of Rownhams Lane (Parkers Farm). The existing school building will be extended to provide one additional classroom, and therefore because this is a relatively small expansion a planning application is not required as it is covered by permitted development under planning rules.
